Recommendation1 letter · professional
A professional recommender (e.g. internship or work supervisor) is expected. An academic recommender only if no professional one is available, explained in the optional essay. Relatives/friends strongly discouraged.

GMAT, GRE, SAT or ACTRequired — waiver possible
Any one of GMAT, GRE, SAT or ACT is required. At-home tests accepted. GMAT/GRE valid 5 years (SAT/ACT 10). GMAT Focus superscore accepted if all scores are reported.
Waiver / exemption: Eligible if you attend or graduated from an undergraduate institution on a 4.0 scale, have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.4 or higher, and have quantitative coursework (e.g. statistics, economics/econometrics, finance, accounting, calculus, data analytics, engineering). Request after starting the application, at least two weeks before the round deadline; typically reviewed in 2–3 business days; discretionary, no appeal.
Duolingo English Test, IELTS Academic or TOEFL iBTIf your degree wasn't taught in EnglishRequired
Duolingo English Test (preferred): Minimum 125, preferred 135+. Submitting a DET score waives the application fee. Valid 2 years.
IELTS Academic: Minimum 7.0 (preferred 7.5+). Valid 2 years.
TOEFL iBT: Minimum 95 (preferred 105+); new 1–6 scale minimum 5.0 (preferred 5.5+). Valid 2 years.
Waiver / exemption: Required if your first language isn't English. No exemption criteria are published: applicants may request a waiver after starting the application; documentation or a video may be required.
Interview (by invitation)
By invitation after application review; no open interviews. Most interviews are by video conference; invited North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia residents may interview on campus (on-campus interviews generally last 30–45 minutes). The interviewer sees only the resume.

Essays
Essay 1 · Required · 2 pages“25 Random Things About Yourself” Our spirit of community is what sets the Fuqua experience apart. The concepts extend beyond the student body to include faculty, staff, and administration. When a new person joins the admissions team, we ask that person to share with everyone in the office a list of "25 Random Things About Yourself." As an admissions team, we already know the new hire's professional and academic background, so learning these "25 Random Things" helps us to get to know someone's personality, background, special talents, and more. In this spirit, the admissions committee also wants to get to know you beyond the professional and academic achievements listed in your resume and transcript. You can share with us important life experiences, your likes and dislikes, hobbies, achievements, fun facts, or anything that helps us understand what makes you who you are.

$75 application fee discount for attending an admissions event$75
The school’s official pages say this differently. Here is what each one says — check with the school before you rely on it.
$75 application fee discount for attending an admissions event: "You may be eligible to receive an application fee discount ($75 USD off of $125 USD)" if, "Before submitting your application, you register for and attend at least one of the event activities listed below": campus visit, open house, information session, informational luncheon, meet & greet, multi-school information session, virtual information session. "Graduate School Fairs are only considered as a qualifying event if you completed a sign in at the Fuqua table during the fair." Only one discount per application. Event types are listed; no event page states the discount.
Fee waiver for attending a virtual event (FAQ wording): The FAQ: "Qualification details are listed on the MQM Application Instructions page. The easiest way to receive a fee waiver is by attending a virtual event." It doesn't say which virtual events or the amount; the instructions page gives a $75 discount (not a waiver) for a virtual information session.
