How the rounds work
Three rounds (December 1, 2026; January 10, 2027; February 1, 2027). Applications are still accepted after the published deadlines if space remains in the incoming class (contact the Office of Admissions to apply after February 1); decisions about four weeks after materials are received. The application system closes June 15, 2027 for the August 2027 full-time cohort.
International applicants
International students are strongly recommended to apply in Round 1 or 2 to allow time for the I-20 and visa process. Applicants with a bachelor's degree from outside the U.S. must have a course-by-course transcript evaluation report sent directly by an approved evaluation service (NACES member or endorsed AICE member; ECE, Josef Silny, SpanTran TEC and WES are recommended). Non-native English speakers submit TOEFL, IELTS (Academic) or Duolingo unless exempt; CMU and Heinz College will not issue an I-20 to anyone with scores below the published minimums. STEM-designated.
