How the rounds work

Four Fall 2027 rounds (Dec. 1, 2026; Feb. 1, 2027; April 1, 2027; July 1, 2027). 'Applications for Fall 2027 admission will be accepted on a rolling basis until July 15, 2027.' All required documents must be on file by each deadline, or the application may be moved to the next round. Decision notifications within three weeks of a completed application; an enrollment deposit is due after admission.

International applicants

Proof of English proficiency is required for students whose native language is not English; W. P. Carey graduate minimum scores may be higher than ASU's. ASU does not accept the TOEFL iBT Home Edition (if taken prior to Jan. 21, 2026), TOEFL iBT Paper Edition or TOEFL Essentials. International transcripts must be submitted in their original language with a literal, complete official English translation (no self-translation; photocopies and notarized transcripts not accepted). Individuals with a three-year undergraduate degree and no additional coursework may qualify. After admission a U.S. visa is required, which includes submitting a graduate financial guarantee. STEM-designated (CIP 52.1301): eligible F-1 graduates may apply for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Private student loans may be an option for international students who do not qualify for federal loans.

    Responses to short essay questions, part of the ASU online application. Personal statements will not be accepted and will delay the review of the application. Essay prompts are available in the graduate application.

    Current resume must include positions held and clearly indicate dates of employment in Month/Year format.

  • TranscriptsRequired

    Unofficial transcripts are accepted at the time of application; if admitted, official transcripts are required from every college and university from which you earned a bachelor's degree or higher, sent to ASU (ASU transcripts not needed if you attended ASU). International transcripts in the original language with an official English translation.

  • One letter of recommendation1 letter

    The letter should comment on the student's motivation, commitment, achievements, work experience and opportunity for success in the program (Degree Search). The program page asks for an individual who can answer questions about your personal qualities, professional success, career aspirations, and ability to perform in a graduate program.

    All applicants must submit one letter of recommendation. The application asks for the recommender's name, affiliation and work email address.

  • GMAT or GREOptional

    GMAT (optional; or GRE): GMAT or GRE scores (optional). Test scores are not required for admission. If you choose to submit a score, it must be sent directly by the testing organization; the GMAT institutional code for the W. P. Carey School is 0GZ-1R-80.

    IELTS: Overall band score on the academic test of at least 6.5. ASU accepts IELTS Academic, IELTS Online, IELTS UKVI and IELTS Indicator; the General Training exam is not accepted. ASU's general minimum; the program page says W. P. Carey graduate minimum score requirements may be higher than ASU requirements (W. P. Carey's figures are not published). Scores must be no more than two years old at the ASU start date.

    PTE Academic: Score of at least 60. ASU does not accept the PTE Academic Online exam. ASU's general minimum; the program page says W. P. Carey graduate minimum score requirements may be higher than ASU requirements (W. P. Carey's figures are not published). Scores must be no more than two years old at the ASU start date.

    TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 80 for exams taken before January 21, 2026; minimum score of 4 for exams taken on or after January 21, 2026. ASU accepts the TOEFL iBT taken in a testing center and the Home Edition for exams taken January 21, 2026 or after; Paper Edition not accepted. Institutional code 4007; electronic score reports only. Scores must be no more than two years old at the ASU start date.

    Waiver / exemption: Required only if your native language is not English. Automatic exemptions (no action): U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and citizens of a country or territory on the ASU English Speaking Country and Territory List. Exemptions by form (after applying): a bachelor's degree or higher from an international institution where English was the only language of instruction; a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university; a future ASU bachelor's degree completed before the graduate program; a bachelor's degree or higher from an international institution recognized by its country, in a country on the ASU list; at least nine semester hours of graduate coursework with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher at a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or a recognized institution in a listed country; at least 90 semester hours of undergraduate coursework with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher at a regionally accredited U.S. college or university; or four years of high school in the U.S. with four years of English courses. Select graduate schools also accept Global Launch English programs.
