How the rounds work

One deadline per applicant group: January 15, 2027 for international applicants and March 15, 2027 for domestic applicants (the Graduate Division program directory lists a single 'Application Deadline: January 15, 2027'; see conflict). The program encourages applicants to submit as early as possible; a decision should come within two months of the application deadline. Fall entry only; applications for Fall 2027 'will open October 2026'.

International applicants

International applicants' deadline is January 15, 2027 (domestic: March 15, 2027). The application fee is $155 for international applicants ($135 for U.S. citizens and permanent residents), and international applicants are not eligible for fee waivers. TOEFL iBT (minimum 80; Graduate Division also lists 4 on the new scale starting January 2026) or IELTS Academic (overall 7, no module below 6), unless the applicant earned an undergraduate degree (Graduate Division: undergraduate or master's degree) at an institution where English was the sole language of instruction according to the World Higher Education Database. Applicants need the equivalent of a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree (Graduate Division: degree programs representing at least 16 years of schooling); non-U.S. transcripts should include evidence of degree conferral. STEM certified: eligible for 36-month Optional Practical Training. The part-time pathway is only available to domestic candidates (catalogue). Private loans are listed for international students.
