  Exemption (CAS Tests & Scores page): granted if you complete a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or one year or more of studies in a degree program, in English in the U.S. or one of the listed exempted countries; the same page also grants an exemption if you complete a degree in a non-exempt country where the medium of instruction in your program is in English. But the MS-DSAI FAQ says: 'Our program does not waive the English language exam requirement for applicants with degrees completed in countries other than those included on the exempted list.' Program waivers: 'Each graduate program determines exceptions for a program waiver of the English Language Exam requirement. Please contact your individual program for details.'

  Applicants whose applications are selected by the admission committee for further review will be contacted for an admission interview, conducted by an MS-DSAI faculty member and covering foundational topics in statistics, linear algebra and computer programming (e.g., reading sample Python code). FAQ: an online technical interview with a member of the faculty admission committee. Successful completion of an interview is required for admission.

지원 자격

• Bachelor's degree (any field)필수

  Applicants who hold a bachelor's degree in any field and have fulfilled the MS in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence prerequisites are considered for admission. Backgrounds in math, computer science, engineering, finance, economics or equivalent skills are encouraged to apply. No minimum GPA (FAQ: generally looking for 3.0 and above; median about 3.3).

• Calculus (strongly recommended)선택

  In addition to the required courses, we strongly recommend courses in calculus and data structures. Key calculus concepts listed include limits, derivatives, partial derivatives, integrals, multivariable and vector calculus, and optimization.

• Linear algebra필수

  Required course: Linear Algebra (systems of linear equations, matrix operations, orthogonal projections, eigenvalues and eigenvectors). USF Data Institute 'Mathematical Foundations for Data Science' is approved. Students must also pass a linear algebra exam during the summer boot camp.

• Computer programming (Python, C++, Java, or R)필수

  Required course: Computer Programming: Python, C++, Java, or R (structured programs, file I/O, control structures, data types, basic data structures). The FAQ requires at least one programming course at an accredited college or university and, for applicants without prior Python experience, recommends at least one course in Python; HTML, web design, PHP, Excel and VBA don't count. USF Data Institute 'Python for Data Analysis' is approved. Professional or personal experience may substitute for coursework in some cases.

• Probability and inferential statistics필수

  Required course: Probability and Inferential Statistics (e.g., probability, distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing and p-values, regression and correlation). Courses should be completed for a grade on a transcript at an accredited institution before the program starts (may be in progress when applying). USF Data Institute 'Introduction to Probability and Statistics' is approved; Coursera/edX courses are not accepted. Professional or personal experience may substitute for coursework in some cases, though formal coursework is preferred.
