International applicants

English proficiency: IELTS Academic or TOEFL iBT unless exempt (see the English test rows). If your degree is from outside the U.S., it must be the equivalent of a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree; transcripts must be translated into English and GPAs converted to a 4.0 scale. You get your I-20 once you complete the admissions supplement. The M.Eng. is STEM-OPT eligible. The financial hardship fee waiver is for domestic applicants only.

    Forward-looking statement on your objectives in pursuing the ORIE M.Eng. and your first-choice concentration.

  • TranscriptsRequired

    Provide unofficial versions of your official transcripts from each university you attended. International students: if applicable, transcripts must be translated into English and GPAs converted to a 4.0 scale. Official transcripts will only be requested upon your admission.

  • Letters of recommendation2 letters

    We suggest one academic reference, one professional reference, and one reference of your choice. The most helpful letters are from faculty members or professional references familiar with your capabilities.

    Two required; three preferred. Recommenders submit their letters online after an automated email sent once the application is submitted.

  • GMAT or GRERequired

    GMAT (or GRE): One of these two tests is required; GRE test is preferred. Send scores via mba.com.

    TOEFL iBT: Minimums (Duffield Engineering): Speaking 4.5 (former scale 23), Reading 4.5 (22), Listening 5.0 (22), Writing 5.0 (24). Institution code 2098. Scores must be valid as of the application deadline (2 years). Individual programs may have higher limits.

    Waiver / exemption: Not required from applicants who meet a standing exemption: speak English as a first language and are a citizen or permanent resident of a country where English is an official language; will have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university located in the U.S. (physically present in the U.S. for the majority of enrollment); will have earned the international equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree from a college or university in a country where English is an official language and the language of instruction (physically present there for the majority of enrollment); or will have studied and/or worked full-time for at least 2 consecutive years within the last 10 years in a country where English is an official and widely spoken language. Applicants who speak English as a first language but don't otherwise qualify may email the M.Eng. Programs Admissions Team about a special exemption.
